The Start Of Something Great

Hello, welcome to Financial Gecko’s first blog post. Before we begin, I want to say that I am NOT a writer, I have never written anything to this extent before so it is highly probable there will be some craziness but bear with me. Also, if you haven’t read my “My Story” that might be a good place to start and then come back here.

So with that out of the way…why did I start Financial Gecko? I started this in the hope of documenting my journey through financial education, entrepreneurship, FIRE and life. I wanted to start a personal brand years ago but never knew what I wanted to create. Now that I know what type of content I want to create, I thought that instead of just making my name the brand, Financial Gecko would be more fun and would tie into my history with geckos

I am by no means an expert on anything you may read here. This is simply one 24-year old’s take and view on things. However, I have found that sometimes you don’t need to be an expert to still help people. In 2017 I started a small reptile breeding business, at the start of it I had simple and basic knowledge of caring for reptiles. However, I made one decision that changed everything, I documented the whole journey. Not every little detail but the overall decisions I made, why I made them and posted that to YouTube. Not only did it help me become a better reptile breeder but it helped others who were trying to do the same thing. By the end, I had increased my knowledge of what it takes to be a reptile breeder, keeper and seller 100x over.

My hope is the same here. I am coming into this with some knowledge, some ideas and thoughts. I know if I repeat the same thing I did before, that it is highly probable that you find something in my journey helpful and it will help me grow as a person too.

What’s next? My current goal is to document my journey with one blog post every other week, and in between, I’ll release a podcast episode expanding on the previous post. I believe that while the written word is great, it is much easier to convey thoughts and ideas through speaking—at least in my experience with my current writing abilities.
